For me, art is a way of better understanding my subconscious. While I start with a general idea of subject matter and composition, I let my mood control where the artwork goes in terms of medium, application, style and atmosphere.
It’s almost like meditation, because I can block everything else out except the image before me, and by the end I feel completely revitalized. I guess thats what Picasso meant when he said “Art washes from the soul the dust of everyday life.”
