Influenced by the Absurdist dramatists, my work explores imaginary worlds – a sort of no-man’s land in which man hangs suspended between reality and fiction.  Mine is necessarily a dark aesthetic and consequently many of my images are somberly toned.  Nevertheless, there is room for playfulness and hope.  A dark road leads to oblivion and yet there are bright lights along the route.  Within the darkness characters play, cavort or strike fantastic poses. In the world I am attempting to depict, there is both magic and drama, sometimes of the high camp variety.  This exaggerated theatricality, a type of Kitsch, allows me to avoid descending into a portentous gloominess,   I aim for a light touch and, above all, try to keep my sense of humour.
